“G.O, to G.R.O.W..” Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore GO and make disciples of all nations…” Matthew 28:18-19a The acronym G.R.O.W. stands for – God Rewards Our Work. This outreach program operates on one very basic premise: church members today lead very busy lives and are often too busy to commit to weekly visitation programs: however, if asked, many could and would commit to one night a month. On that night some people go out and make visits, while others stay at the church and write letters or make phone calls. To accomplish this goal teams are created. We are planning on starting with two teams – the G and O teams -- and working our way toward adding two additional teams (R. & W). Each of these teams would meet one night a month for about 1– 1 1/2 hours each month. If you think you would be interested in serving, or if you have any additional questions regarding the “GO” teams, please contact Gerald Greene, Jeff Ivey, Larry Maples, or the pastor.

If you would be interested in reporting news from special events, or simply have a story to tell, we’d like to hear from you! All groups in the church are encouraged to submit stories and information for the newsletter. The deadline for submitting material for The Virtue View is the 3rd Thursday of each month. Please send all information to Jim Aist. Thank you for your assistance in this matter. |

Be sure to attend the Farragut 4th of July Parade and see our float full of smiling, waving children. Also, check out our new Virtue Church T-shirts while you're at it; very nice! If you get thirsty, just look for someone with one of our T-shirts on handing out water. And if you get thirsty again, try attending one of our worship services, where you can drink of the living water and never thirst again; very cool! |

At the June meeting the session approved the following: · The meeting for all committee members is set for June 28th. By consensus it will replace the evening worship service and pizza will be served to the attendees. · Modifications to the Wednesday night service are still being developed and should be ready by about July first. In the meantime, the current bible study will continue. · The pastor pointed out that contributions for the first five months of the year are almost $10,000 below expenditures. · Deacons: The recommendation for a flyer listing all activities for youth was considered. It was felt that this information should be incorporated into the church brochure rather than as a separate publication. The brochure is due for an update and reprinting soon. · Mission and outreach: Their plan to distribute cards with water at the July 4th parade needs to be coordinated with the Vision Committee; we question the availability of funds for printing cards. · Fellowship: Plans for the July 4th celebration and Pavilion dedication were approved. · Music and Worship (Verbal report) “New” hymnals donated by Knoxville 1st Church have been placed in the sanctuary. Members who donated previous hymnals “in honor of” or “in memory of” will have the opportunity to retrieve these before the remainder are boxed for storage. · No report was received from Christian Ed. or Buildings & Grounds · On motion, James and Francis Hart were accepted into the full fellowship of the church. |

FREEDOM This month our nation celebrates freedom. Please don’t ever forget that our freedom comes at a high price, whether that be the freedom we enjoy as Americans, or even more important, the freedom we enjoy through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. We owe a great debt of gratitude to the Lord and to all who have sacrificed their all so that we may freely live. So let us live each day to the fullest, taking every advantage possible to freely share our faith in Christ with others. Please continue to keep those serving in the military in your prayers, as well as their families. May God bless America, and may we bless God!

Our annual 4th of July picnic will be held at 5:30 pm. Food and beverages will be provided. There will be a water slide for the kids (bring bathing suits and change of clothes). After the meal, the Pavilion will be dedicated in memory of Buddy White. If you know someone who might enjoy a good, clean party on the 4th this year, bring them along with you. We'll make room for everybody! |

Virtue Church to Enter Float in Farragut 4th of July Parade |

I hope that this newsletter finds you enjoying the first few days of summer. During the month of July many wonderful things will be taking place here at Virtue Church. Several of these activities are listed here in the newsletter, but let me take a moment and remind you of a couple that aren’t. Our new “Down-home” worship service will begin on Wed. July, 29. This will be an informal, acoustic “bluegrass-style” worship service for the adults (youth and children will continue to meet for classes). Y’all make plans to come and bring a friend! As I write this, some of you are actively being “recruited” to serve in the upcoming “G.O.” program. If you are contacted, please prayerfully consider getting involved. Training for this program will begin very soon. Let’s roll up our sleeves and continue to glorify the name of Jesus in all we do!
